Let’s hear from Jessie Rayot:
How did you hear about the Stevie Nicks Shawl Design Contest and what was your first thought?
Someone posted the link to the contest on my Facebook wall as soon as it was announced. At least 4 more people posted it to me again that day. Sometimes I succumb to peer pressure.
OK, well, it wasn’t so much the peer pressure, as much as the fact that I love Stevie Nicks, I really enjoy her music and her style. Plus, my Aunt Diane is the biggest Stevie Nicks fan you will ever meet, and I really, really love my Aunt Diane, so I thought this would make her smile.
I’ve seen that you have a design out in a very similar style? How would you describe these “leaves?”
Oh, the leaves!! The Fall Leaves Wrap that I designed with the solid version of these leaves started out much more geometric. It was going to be sort of off~set triangles, I guess that is the best way to describe it. As I started to crochet what was in my head, it just didn’t want to be. Eventually I ended up with something that made me think of leaves; so I ripped it out for the millionth time and started again with leaves in my head, and the Fall Leaves Wrap came to be.
The leaves are really just a bunch of single crochet corners stacked up in varying lengths. The actual corner is the part that runs down the vain of each leaf. For the Stevie Nick Shawl, I started with the same leaves, but made them with a double crochet lace, as it was much more in line with her fashion.

Where can people go to vote and how does the process work?
You can vote HERE and you can vote for me HERE.
There are 2 winners.
Stevie’s winner (the main prize) and a community winner. Here is how TalentHouse explains it: “Stevie Nicks will select from all qualified submissions. The community can support their favorite submissions through social voting via Facebook and Twitter. The artist with the largest public support will be chosen as the Community Choice.”
So you are voting for the Community Choice winner. Voting closes on Monday at 10am Pacific time (1 pm Eastern). The winner will be announced on October 14th. I am guessing that refers to the main winner, as the community choice winner will be apparent right away because they number of votes are listed on each entry.
What is the first thing you would do hearing that Stevie Nicks would be wearing your shawl?
